1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

This is question 1 from our Evaluation, I decided to use Prezi for this particular question as a type of different technology.

Final Production

The months of hard work, planning, filming and editing have paid off. Here is our 2 minute film introduction!

Time Management: Updates

Me and Jess managed to finish all the editing today although it took us 2 hours, we are extremely happy with the final production!

Time Management: Updates

Today is the last day that we have to finish editing as the deadline is today. We only have to apply to voice-over and music to our film which will take about an hour that we can do in our free, after that our editing and main task is complete.

Planning: Filming

We organised an extra date of filming to completely recover some of the footage we had as we knew we could do it a lot better. This is the shot list that we decided as a group to redo:

We had to re-film everything we had done on, originally, the second day of filming which delayed us and put us at a slight disadvantage as we were behind compared to most of the groups in the class. We began to feel the pressure so we ensured that we could capture the best footage that we could and this time positioning the camera at different angles as to capture the best shots. But overall, the day of feeling went really well.

Here is our risk assessment for that filming day:

Time Management: Updates

Although at first the editing was going well, as we started to upload shots we realised that not all of the clips we had worked well amongst the film introduction although we took more footage than we needed. So we set up another date for filming to capture a few shots to add into our main task. I will upload the risk assessments and shot lists after this post as to show what we did.

Time Management: Updates

The editing process went really well yesterday. We have all our clips on premiere, and we are editing the shots by cutting and speeding up durations on certain shots. For today, our targets are to start cutting all clips down to get our target length time of 2 minutes which is the maximum for this task. Towards the end of this week or perhaps the beginning of next we are going to focus upon the music side and the sound effects such as the moped, as we aren't using a real one any more, to play at the beginning. We also need to record our voice over. But as of the moment we are finding the editing a fun process and we are all looking forward the the end result.

Production: Editing

In today's lesson, we are focusing just on uploading all clips onto the premiere.
We are currently doing a rough edit just to have a basic idea of how the introduction will look together. We will do a more detailed edit once all clips are uploaded and once we have selected the best clips from each shot, but at the moment we are trying to make it continuous.
Here our some screen shots of our process so far:

Time Management: Updates

Yesterday, we began our editing for our Main task. We started cutting the clips to see in which ways they flowed best with sequences either side of each singular shot. Because it's only a rough edit at this moment in time it isn't as good as it can and will be. Today we are uploading the last shots onto premiere and editing them before getting into the more detailed editing process.

Production: Editing

We as a group are onto the editing process now. We are uploading our clips that we've filmed onto  Premiere and linking them together to see if they are continuous. We are also trying out the speeding up and slowing techniques on certain parts, such as where we have recorded people writing down actors names and etc...
We are also creating 'Power-points' needed for the introductory shots such as this one:

Editing at the moment is going really well, because our group took extra shots on each day of filming we also have the chance to try out different types and see which one fits best. We are having slight problems with some cuts looking like they are jumping from place to place, but luckily we can cut to the shots where we name the actors and the production team.

We have also decided to cut some of the shot times down because for a lot of the introduction not a lot happens.

Other than that, editing has worked out better than we had presumed it would.

Time Management: Updates

Today was the last day that we had our camera booked out till, we have managed to complete all the filming a few days before the deadline. We've briefly had a look over the footage that we have at the moment and because of the extra shots we took just in case it looks as though after editing it will flow nicely and become a brilliant film introduction.
As a group, we found the filming to be quite stressful as we had to do it during the exams week and work around the busy schedule that we had, but all in all the filming worked out well.

Planning: Shotlist

We had to change and move around some of our original shots, when it came to filming and viewing it on the computer we realised that some shots wouldn't of flown as well as we had first thought. So after replanning I have completed our new and improved shot list:

Time Management: Updates

We have decided to cut some shots from our shot list as we have realised they wouldn't fit into our film. Instead we have put more effort into making some cuts to producers and directors names but fitting them into the film itself. There will be an updated version of the shotlist shortly.

Time Management: Updates

The filming yesterday went really well, we have got all the shots that we needed to capture and took extra shots just in case when it came to editing that we found we needed more. The only complications we had was working around our frees as we are filming during the examination week.

Planning: Filming

This is the shotlist for today's filming along with our risk assessment. The actors we are using are 'Austin' played by Nick Sauvenee and 'Wesley' played by Phillip Strongman. We are using the same location which makes the filming part a lot easier and less stressful. We organised to meet at the new toilets in the south wing of the college at 12.50pm, as it is right next to our location.

Also, the location is the same from yesterdays so we can use the same risk assessment sheet -

The filming has been really successful so far and has made us feel a lot happier about our film introduction.

In the way of props we only need a pile of books for Wesley to drop. We also need to ensure that the characters are in their outfits.

Time Management: Updates

The filming yesterday went really well. We completed most of the shots we needed and even more footage than we needed. Today we are going to film the (popular guy) 'Austin' and the (nerd) 'Wesley' parts and the shots that they are in. I will re-upload a risk assessment and the specific shots we will be doing. We left some of the shots out from yesterday and are going to include them in today's filming.

Planning: Filming

We have booked our technology for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday; it's our first day filming today, but after having to find a new camera we as a group are really feeling the pressure. We have decided which shots to do and where to meet the needed cast for this part of the film as we sent a collective college e-mail and arranged where to meet the cast and at what time (student reception at 12.50 pm) . So we are excited about getting our first piece of filming done.
We also filled out a Risk Assessment for this specific filming set today-

Luckily for our first piece of filming we don't need many props because the scenes are college based.

Audience Research: Updates

We held another Audience Research Meeting over the weekend to get the group's feelings on our animatic. All the feedback was positive on Facebook, but after mailing them we got a comments about the introduction giving us targets that we can rearrange for perfection.

Sophie Wheeler and Rosie Williams noted how they liked the pace of the film and that it seemed like a good idea. Rosie also pointed out how the pictures flowed properally and the filmed would be very easy to understand which could appeal to our audience more specifically.

After mailing for more negative comments to give our group things to work on, Sophie Wheeler noted that some of the scenes seemed to last longer than needed. So we looked at our shot list and decided to change a few durations, we will see which one works best when it comes to our filming times and take the shots at different angles and try out the new durations.

Time Management: Updates

Unfortunately, we cannot use the camera that we planned to use today or for the rest of the week due to unforeseen events. Luckily, we booked a camera for today, tomorrow and Wednesday to get our filming done. We as a group are finding it quite hard and stressful meeting this deadline as we keep encountering problems that are delaying us.

Time Management: Updates

Today I finished editing the two blogs that are posted below. I uploaded some photos of the main characters onto the 'Cast' blog as well. We have decided that on Monday the 10th of January we will begin filming. We have arranged this with our cast via college e-mail and have had positive responses from everyone. We have a final blog to finish which will be on blogger by tomorrow, it is our audience research and I am holding another meeting with them this afternoon. We are now on track to reaching the deadline.

Planning: Shotlists

Here is our completed shotlist in chronological order, it took us longer than expected to upload because we had to recast as the main character fell ill and would be absent. But here it is:

On the 'filming' blogs we will post, we will identify the shots that we filmed, as we won't be filming in order.

Time Management: Updates

We encountered problems during the Christmas Holidays, we were set for filming the first day back after the two week holidays, although the person who we had set up to play the character of the Popular Guy named 'Austin', will now be absent for the time when we need to be filming. We are trying to find a new person willing to play the character, but because of this, filming will be delayed.
